Jennifer Ray-Tomasek
The Tomasek family has been a part of the Hudson Montessori School community since the 2003-2004 school year. Three of the Tomasek children have graduated from the HMS middle school (Clayton in 2014, Garret in 2016, Edith in 2019) and Wyatt will be in the HMS middle school class of 2023. Through the years, Jennifer has held many HMS community roles! In more recent years, she sat on the Head of School Search Committee that ultimately chose Matt Virgil as school head, and also helped to revive the ever-important Family Network organization to support our families.
Jennifer is also an alumna of Montessori education, having attended and graduated from Ruffing Montessori School (Cleveland Heights) in its inaugural middle school class. She went on to Gilmour Academy and then Kent State University. She holds a master’s degree in School Counseling and a doctorate in Health Education and Promotion and is currently an Assistant Professor at Kent State University in Kent. Additionally, she assists her husband, Dale, in operating their family residential construction company that specializes in high-performance homes. They live in Hiram township on a hobby farm with a collection of chickens and pigs.
“I feel so fortunate to have had my children journey through all levels at HMS. I have watched their joy for learning be nurtured and supported and know that their success in high school, college, and beyond, will have been formulated in these important foundational years in Montessori. And so I’m grateful to have an opportunity to serve the school in this new role as a trustee. I know the work is important in creating a successful, sustainable school community that will serve children and families for many decades to come.”
