Brass Instruments

General Guidelines - Brass Instruments

Practicing every day is highly recommended. Students have busy schedules with school, but even 5-10 minutes of practice each day will set up your student for success. Getting into a daily routine of playing your instrument is the best way to stay interested and remain consistent!

Lessons occur weekly on the same day/time. If you need to reschedule a lesson, please do so at least 24 hours prior, or you will be required to pay for the canceled lesson (barring sickness or emergencies).

Lessons are tailored to the individual student. Fundamental techniques, theory, history, and classical, folk, jazz, and popular music are just some of the topics I will be covering along with any interests the student may have. Discovery, focus, spontaneity, creativity, critical thinking, and cooperation are some of the skills all students will develop during lessons.

All assigned materials and accessories should be acquired within two weeks.

Please bring your instrument, slide lubricant, music, accessories and a pencil to every lesson.

Arrive early! Showing up five minutes early will provide enough time to unpack your instrument and accessories without using your actually lesson time. That time flies by quickly, and you want to make sure you get the most out of it! Remember - each student’s lessons will start and end immediately after another, and times cannot be extended if a student arrives late.

Practice, practice, practice! The more prepared you are, the more tips and tricks I can show you to make playing your instrument easier and fun!
