INdividual lesson schedule 2023-24

Marian Goss began her music studies at age nine with a local violin teacher from her hometown in Broadview Heights, Ohio. In 1984 and 1985, Marian studied with Linda Cerone and David Russell at the Encore School for Strings in Hudson, Ohio. During her high school years, she studied with Paul Statsky at the Cleveland Institute of Music while performing with the Cleveland Orchestra’s Youth Orchestra.

Marian received a Bachelor’s Degree in violin performance from Baldwin-Wallace College and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1992. For her Master’s Degree, she attended The University of Texas at Austin from 1992 until 1994. While at UT, Marian had the honor of playing in a master class given by Isaac Stern. She also was very involved in the University’s String project, a preparatory string program that offers lessons, theory, orchestra and group classes to over 300 children in the Austin area.

After graduate school, Marian moved back to Ohio and enrolled in the long-term Suzuki teacher training program at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the direction of Michele George. Since completing the 10 volumes of Suzuki literature at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Marian has attended several Suzuki workshops and institutes in California, Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio. Marian is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Marian currently teaches violin students in the Western Reserve Suzuki School. She is also a trained Music Together teacher and teaches several family music classes each week. In past summers, Marian has taught at the Suzuki Music Columbus summer camp, Walla Walla Washington Institute and Cleveland International Music Festival.

As a performer, Marian is a substitute musician in the Akron Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of several local quartets who perform all over northern Ohio.
