Last week Mr. Huck Ford set up "sugar camp" in our woods on the east side of our campus. The students, faculty and staff worked together to tap nearly 80 trees and collect over 400 gallons of sap. The sap was boiled in evaporator pans and Mr. Huck fed the fire with wood as the sap boiled and continued to evaporate. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of pure maple syrup!
What an opportunity to broaden the student's education through hands-on learning. We can't wait to enjoy the end product as much as we enjoyed making it. This experience was made possible through the many gifts we received for our Raise Your Paddle effort at last year's Auction. Thank you for supporting.
