Helping Make the World a Little Brighter Through Community Service

HMS once again participated in Operation Gratitude this fall.  Operation Gratitude is an organization that collects Halloween candy and sends it to our brave troops overseas and our first responders here at home. All together, in just two days, our students donated 184 pounds of candy for the cause!  We hope our service men and women enjoy this token of our appreciation for all they do to keep us safe.

Our students were also busy on Halloween night with Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.  As they were going door to door, some students collected money that was then donated to UNICEF.  Their efforts resulted in over $500 collected to help other children in need.

We also held a Veteran's Day assembly on Monday, November 12th to thank and learn from some of the veterans that are part of our community.  Steve Smith, Joseph Wells, and Ed Mailey told us about their experiences in serving in the armed forces and answered some questions from the students.  We thank them for visiting with us and most of all, for serving our country!
