Pat began her work in education when she received her degree in Special Education from the State University of New York in Buffalo. She was introduced to Montessori education while she was working in Special Education in the 1960’s and later began her work in Montessori at Ruffing Montessori School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio as a teacher and coordinator for their Middle School program where she worked for 11 years. She received her AMI training and earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University. Pat moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to found the Montessori adolescent land school, including training of the staff. She returned to Cleveland and began to provide consultation services to Montessori schools, both public and private. She has also been active in curriculum design and continues to teach at the NAMTA (North American Teachers’ Association) Orientation for Adolescent Studies as an organizer and a presenter. Pat is a specialist in adolescent education and is a regular contributor to the NAMTA educational journal. She came to Hudson to found the Middle School program in 2004 and acts as Teaching Coordinator of the current program. Pat is the mother of five grown children and the grandmother of nine. “I feel privileged to have had an ongoing opportunity to serve our adolescents, their families, and the teachers who are dedicated to the healthy development of young people. This educational endeavor is mission-driven at its very core; it is a meaningful life work and I remain ever grateful!”
